Places to write
Now that I have a big deadline bearing down on me I was wondering if anyone has recommendations of good places to go and write in Raleigh/Cary. My apartment has way too many distractions to do it there. I've been going to the local CiCi's Pizza but I don't think I can stomach the pizza anymore, and its not very good for me. So I'm looking for some place I can sit at for little ($10 or less) or no money for 3-5 hours that has a table and an electrical outlet. As long as people don't bother me distractions are fine; I actually like some hub bub in the background.

Any suggestions?

Starbucks. A friend of mine was a store manager for a bit and told me that their entire schtick was to make Starbucks a third place to be. As in, you go to work, you go home, and you go to Starbucks. So they won't kick you out, even if you just go there to write. You don't even have to buy anything.

Panera. Same thing, plus free internet. The only thing is that between the hours of 11 and 2, they want you to give up your table after thirty minutes if people are waiting to use them. Y'know, to eat. WhatEV.

Library. But it might be a bit quiet. Totally free without any subliminal messages to buy coffee / bread.

The Leander House. We don't has tv. Just internets. Then again, maybe you're looking to get away from that. And I work from home so there's always someone here. The cats sometimes make noises. Does that count as bub?

I go to the Panera down from the office all the time. It does not suck. They do have some subdued music playing in the background. They have power and should you need it the wifi is free.

Alas, all the places I know are in Durham. But if I had to go somewhere in Raleigh, I'd go to Third Place on Glenwood ave: http://www.thirdplacecoffee.com/

Mr. Toad's. It's a coffee shop in the strip mall at Cary Parkway & High House.

The Carolina Cafe and the Starbucks off of Harrison's and Weston are neat places. I wouldn't take up a table during peak lunch hours, but in the evenings, things seem fairly slow and calm there.

NCSU doesn't card folks, and as much as I hate to admit it, I really like the urban, older, faintly run-down library feel. The public libraries totally work, as well, although the regional libraries tend to be nicer than the smaller local branches.
