So it's another year gone and it was one of big deeds, the biggest of which was getting FE out the door. ( So some review on last year's resolutions and new resolutions for the coming year. )

New Fallen Earth online ad

Four years of work paying off
Fallen Earth Beta is over and seems to have gone well. We blew it out last night with a huge slaughter of just about everyone. Folks had a good time. It didn't really hit me until last night that the game is finally coming out. It's been a very long road, but likely I've had many excellent people on the trip with me.

Myself and several of my cohorts will be in Seattle this weekend for PAX. Should be interesting. Some of my other cohorts will be at Dragon*Con throwing a Fallen Earth party, so you should find them and get an invite.

Trip
So I will be heading down to Atlanta this coming Friday, getting their around 3-4 with a possible stop by Athens if folks there are so inclined. I will be returning to Raleigh Monday afternoon. Saturday afternoon and evening are spoken for, but am up for whatever social activities are happening aside from those times.

Looking for a new laptop
My laptop was ever so kind to inform me that it is on its last legs this evening, thus I am in the market for a new laptop. I don't need anything hugely powerful, but if it could run FE that would definitely be a bonus. I'm thinking of getting a Dell since my last four computers have been Dells and this laptop's impending death is the first real problem I've had with them. Anyone have any suggestions other than Dell for places to look at?

Just be clear I'm not interested in getting a Mac.

(For those unfamiliar with it One Bad Egg is a company putting out some awesome 4th Edition material. It's run by Fred Hicks (of Spirit of the Century Fame) and my old friend Justin Jacobson (the mastermind for Dawning Star). They basically pay me to write a pulp-horror version of 4E content with giant, talking monkeys. Can this be any more up my alley?

Sick
I am sick and most likely will not be in the office tomorrow or get my planned writing done today. I have gone from moving to unpacking to sick, and thus been a ghost to my friends, inlcuding offending the moving gods this morning by not helping friend move who helped me move. I apologize for my lack of presence.

Moving
The Moving process has begun. Internet access will be spotty for the next few days, though I will be checking everything at work on Monday.

So good news and bad news
The Bad:
I am the worst boss/lead game designer ever. I showed up half an hour late to a chat session about FE. Luckily my guys covered for me, but still, worse boss/lead game designer ever.

The Neither Good Nor Bad:
Moving Saturday. All help appreciated. Be at my place at 10:30 if you can come.

The Good:
Got a massive deadling expansion on Shadows of Azathoth and am throwing a good part of it out. No more focus on Earth. It's all more of a "you left Earth months ago, have no support, and have to deal with this alien planet."

Temp kitty homes
Just wanted to check again if anyone could foster my two kitties Ponce de Leon and Milla for a few months while I get my moving situations worked out. They're very sweet and extremely cute.

It should be sufficiently far from any malls to avoid problems due to Black Friday. I had been looking for something more on the middle north side of town, but I know nothing about that area these days.

Also probably attending Highlander tomorrow night after turkey and awful, disgusting gravy has been devoured along with white round things (my family has a lot of Thanksgiving in jokes).

Change in birthday assault part 2
Part 2 of the birthday assault is being postponed to Saturday night to avoid travel fatigue after being in the car all day Friday. So Saturday night, 8, Harrison's on Harrison Ave in Cary for hanging out.

Operation Birthday this Friday
So this Friday I'm mounting a two pronged birthday assault.

Prong one: I and my girlfriend will be in Atlanta Friday morning and are aiming to do lunch with folks Friday. Would like to get this started around 11:30 to noon. Suggestions as to where appreciated. Flynn suggested sushi since he thought I still didn't eat fish but I have made my peace with sushi and find it quite tasty (though having other options for girlfriend would be good).

Prong two: After we drive back up to Raleigh some sort of dinner hanging out session with the Raleigh crew, probably at Sunset Grille or Harrisons. I'm thinking 8ish.

Anyone up for Quantum of Solace tomorrow at the 7:30 show at the Carmike around the corner from Icarus?

And maybe a 1:20 or 4:20 matinee of Role Models on Sunday?

Hanging out?
Anyone up for Harrison's this evening around 8? I've been writing of vegging in front of Fallout 3 this weekend so some people time would be good.

Places to write
Now that I have a big deadline bearing down on me I was wondering if anyone has recommendations of good places to go and write in Raleigh/Cary. My apartment has way too many distractions to do it there. I've been going to the local CiCi's Pizza but I don't think I can stomach the pizza anymore, and its not very good for me. So I'm looking for some place I can sit at for little ($10 or less) or no money for 3-5 hours that has a table and an electrical outlet. As long as people don't bother me distractions are fine; I actually like some hub bub in the background.

Any suggestions?
